Leveraging Strong Authentication to Improve Security of Patient Records 4pm
Event Information
IT security has never been more critical in healthcare, as organizations continue to face an onslaught of cyberattacks targeting patient health records and hospital financial data. One approach to better safeguarding data is to enable strong authentication to ensure that only authorized users can access applications and information. Similar tactics can be taken for clinical workflows, requiring providers to re-authenticate to establish a robust audit trail for all interactions with patient information. However, while these efforts increase security, they also have the potential to create inefficiencies and barriers for users. Participants will discuss how they are approaching two-factor authentication, including what workflows they are securing, the modalities they use today and needs for federated and cloud-based identity management. Participants will discuss the relative value of balancing security and workflow efficiency.
